Who is Alecsys Proctor-Turner?
"For me, the first thing is to tell a good story."
-Lynn Nottage

My name is Alecsys Proctor-Turner, the daughter of Tara D Turner, granddaughter of Jacquelyn C Porter, and the great-granddaughter of the late Mary Lynn Cambridge. I am a proud Bahamian-American artist, born and raised in Miami, Fl, and NYC based. I am a graduate from the University of Miami BFA Music Theatre program. (Go Canes!!) And a recent graduate of Columbia University MFA Acting '24. Catch me on Season 2 of Netflix Hit Survival of the Thickest OUT NOW!

I was raised by the strongest woman in the world, my mother. She instilled in me a hunger for the arts, service, and activism. I was taught that the voices of all humans have value. I found my voice through Acting. Through writing scripts, coaching children, and performing, I found that acting gave me the power to share not only my voice, but also those whose voices aren't heard.

As I explore my artistry, I continue to build on a foundation that amplifies the voices of underrepresented communities. Acting isn't just about telling stories, its about art imitating life. My goal is to serve as a voice to the unheard from centerstage.
